I'm on TBird 153.0.2esr after a recent update. On previous versions the "Get Messages" button in the top left side of the menu's was working fine. When the button was selected, an update was displayed in the bottom left frame of the window. The update would say something like "Connecting to ..." and the message would be downloaded from the server. Great...

If there were no messages on the server, the update would display "There are no messages on the server". With this current version, I don't see any messages in the lower left frame of the window.

This is a convenient feature of the app, as I like to check the server for messages prior to shutting down. It's also convenient for getting messages with a security code without having to wait for the next scheduled message download. Now I can only assume there are no incoming messages when I push the button and don't see anything in my Inbox.

Dear Mozilla Development Team, Please reinstate this feature for upcoming versions of Thunderbird. Oh, BTW, this is a great app that I use daily for email. I use the calendar as a log book for my daily activities as well as an appointment scheduler. Thanks for your attention.

P.S. I see a new version is available (153.0.3esr) today (8/14/26), so I'll update and see if the same issue occurs.

After returning from a 6 day vacation, my wife attempted to download email from her Yahoo email account. There are nearly 200 messages that have piled up but they aren't moving. I've uninstalled and re-installed TB. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app password in Yahoo. There is no problem with accessing the email via any web browser. I spent 49 minutes on a tech support call with Yahoo and they have said the problem is with TB because they repeated the same steps I have. I checked firewall settings and the only antivirus program on the computer is Malware Bytes and it's not running in the background. The version of TB is the most recent as of yesterday. I don't see any sketchy looking emails in the web version of Yahoo Mail when it's opened. It's set up as a POP3 account and has been since Cox Internet gave their email over to Yahoo. I'd appreciate any assistance in resolving this because it's currently above my pay grade and tech support at Yahoo.

All my read emails are showing on the top bar of my thunderbird. I have to scroll left past multipee tabs to get to my inbox. This just started recently and at the same time email replies started showing up under the original. can I turn these features off.

I updated t the latest version of Thunderbird but since then none of my email addresses were changed with the update. Tried all the advice on line but still can't retrieve my saved email addresses from the inbox and sent box

Thunderbird just updated and the next time I opened it all of the folders I created and the emails I'm storing within them are missing. I found my profile as directed. I'm not sure if I have a backup of it. I've included the screenshot as you ask for. I know that those folders and emails are there as I was playing around with the the 3 lines > View and when I moved between the different choices I saw my folders/emails are all in there.

Ever since last 2 windows updates, thunderbird always asks for passwords and authorization for google calendar...this happens when you restart the computer and when you log out of thunderbird and log back in....this never happened before I uninstalled thunderbird and reinstalled it and it keeps happening is there a fix?

I utilize a program to scan business cards and need to add these contacts into my contact list in Thunderbird. I know how to add them if the VCF Card is received inside an email as an attachment, but I do not see any instructions on how to add it if it is found locally on my computer or received by text, etc. Thanks in advance, Ken

Hi, After recent Thunderbird update Shift + F5 nor Get new messages for all accounts IMAP doesn't work. I've synchronisation on. When I start Thunderbird it gets messages fine.

In the last month or 2, when I delete an email it does not show in the trash folder. I can wait from 5 minutes to even the next time I reboot my puter to finally see it it trash. Sometimes it sends it to the all mail or important folder instead of trash. And if I delete from there, it still takes tons of time to end up in the trash folder...if it even gets there. This seems to be getting worse by the day. I have clicked repair folder, no change, I have cleared Thunderbird's cache, no change. It's also now taking way too much time to load an email that contains a picture. This happens with at least 3 of these gmails. I'm at a loss here and extremely frustrated and about to change these gmails from imap to pop. win10 and TB is up to date. But it doesn't compact folders as much as it used to either. Any help appreciated

Installed Thunderbird Setup 153.0.3 and npw when running t-bird get a prompt asking abut a 'thundermail" address. Please advise.. What is "thundermail" and why is it in my way? I am a regular donor to T-bird sent several, emails addressing the "thundermail" weirdness and thus far no reply. .

Hi, I have two accounts in my Thunderbird. They are Gmail (regular gmail account) and CFCC (an institutional account). The CFCC shows up in my Unified Folder list but the Gmail does not. Is that normal? The main Inbox is showing all incoming emails from both accounts so no performance issues, just wondering how to get rid of the CFCC (if that's possible) to eliminate clutter. I've just recently (over the past 10 days) been notified about 3-4 times a day by Windows Defender which flagged "something" as Trojan:HTML/ScrInject.AW!MTB in "file" %temp%/newmsg.

That's where my copy of Tbird puts temp files. Closing it stops this behavior. Uninstalling and reinstalling w/out deleting my profile caused the same behavior, but uninstalling and cleaning out my profile files seems to have stopped this behavior.

I only have one extension, Compact Headers, and that doesn't seem to be the problem. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

For some time now two Thunderbird Icons have displayed in my Windows task bar. One opens the program I have used for years as normal but the other opens a sign-in screen requiring a user name and password. Today only one version appears and that is the sign in screen. After a lot of steps -including a request for Thunderbird to access my Google account I finally got access to the two e-mail accounts I keep on "my" Thunderbird but the display is far harder to read than the earlier one. After I exited the program I found to re-open it I got the same log-on screen??? How can I access the Mozilla program I am familiar with?

I can receive outlook e-mail but I cannot send from Thunderbird. I am asked for a password for the specific Microsoft server. I enter my Microsoft account password but this does not work. Security setting is STARTTLS withNormal Password authentification. My other Thunderbird non-MS e-mails are problem free.

Currently using TB 153.0, Win 11 on desktop PC.

In past versions there was a progress bar on right end of the status line, along bottom edge of the screen, that showed progress while TB was compacting folders. That bar hasn't been visible in last few updates.

When prompted today, I allowed TB to start compacting. I'd permanently deleted a really big bunch of old emails in last few days, so probably a lot of space that could be recovered. I kept waiting and waiting and waiting, but without the progress I had no idea if TB was busy or possibly frozen. So I just left it alone. When I came back and tried to manually start compacting, it immediately said "Done, 0K saved". So it had obviously done the compacting.

If it's an option, how do I enable that progress bar? If not currently available, please consider restoring it in future TB updates. I -for one- think it's a very useful feature.
