In the new iteration of Thunderbird (45, I believe), you've made it impossible to choose a font size larger than what is actually quite a small size with your questionable size button. I often use much larger fonts when creating special e-mails. Why on Earth did you change this? It ruins Thunderbird for me.

You can download it here. Right-click, use "Save Link As".

And here is guidance on installing your downloaded file.

If you use Windows, you may be able to just drag my link onto Thunderbird's add-ons page.

I don't know why that change was made.

Some alternative approaches:

Use the extra format buttons addon which provides a numerical font size feature;

Use the Stationery addon where you can use your own css format declarations;

Use an HTML editor to adjust font sizing tags. Again, the Stationery addon has an html viewer/editor, or there is one at kaosmos's site.

I really appreciate your response, Zenos, but the problem is that I'm not very tech inclined. All this time, Thunderbird has been an app I could just go to and use. Now a major feature (for me) has been destroyed. The only answer is for the people who make all these changes to restore the ability to make the fonts much, much larger--for me, a minimum of 72 pt.

I have three friends who used to swear by Thunderbird, and now all four of us have to find another e-mail client. I've really loved Thunderbird. It's hard to leave.

I wrote to the Forum because I don't know how to contact whoever made these changes. I'm sure your suggestions would help someone more schooled in tech. Unfortunately, I'm not that guy. Thanks anyway.

Adding an add-on doesn't take any real amount of techie skills.

Thanks for taking pity on an old guy, Zenos. The solution doesn't give me sizes above 72, but I can work with this. I see you're a top ten contributor. Your determination to help has saved me a gigantic headache. Really, really big thanks!
