Manually updating add-ons in FF29 does not work
Doing a manual Check for Updates in about:addons hangs (does nothing) -- waited five minutes. I have confirmed this behavior by doing the same in Safe Mode. In the past, at least I would at least get No Updates Found (if there were none). Having Update Add-ons Automatically checked or unchecked has no effect on this behavior.

Thanks for the response; but, the issue was not plugins. It was that doing a manual extension update would hang.
Apparently, something has been fixed in 29.0.1 and this is no longer an issue (for me).

What are you trying to check?
Firefox Add-ons > on the left side select Plugins. At the top of the page
is a link labeled Check Plugins Up To Date. If this link does not work, use
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/.

page is a gear icon. Click it.
