Please test ur u/ds b4 release, the last FF u/d took away my Search.
The last Firefox 46.0.1.0 update took away my Search bar. And the last Thunderbird 45.1.1.0 update caused Thunderbird to flag all my email as susoicious; sometimes I have to tell it to allow mail from the sender just to read the email, then next it still flags it as suspiocious. I wish there were a way to stop updates. And I wish the were a way to undo these last two updates.

I wish you had addressed your Firefox issues to a Firefox forum. But then what does "still flags it as suspiocious" mean.
If you are talking about scam filtering tun it off if you don't like it. On the toolbar > Options > Security > email scams.
If you are talking about something else, you will need to elucidate.
Hi Matt,
Perhaps you mean Thunderbird rather than Firefox?
The blocking message is something like "To protect your privacy Firefox has blocked remote content". I do not wish to turn it off entirely, I just want it to work correctly, as it did before the last update.
I would also like to turn off updates since they generally do more harm than good.

I meant Firefox if you did.

As I said I have no idea what your talking about here. and your answer only confuses me more.

So now I get the impression you are having difficulty with remote images. But I still do not get what the issue is. What is

What changed. it obviously is telling you something now. What does it say? How is this different to what it used to say? I am trying to understand and your descriptions are not helping.

Rather a silly idea as you miss all the security updates. So you place your computer at risk. But it is your choice. On the toolbar > Options > Advanced > Update

No. Please pay attention. Thunderbird now says it is protecting me from remote content for all messages. This is clearly a bug introduced with the last update.

The messages are the same as before and the same as I stated above.

Not so silly. I do not know the value, if any of the "security updates" but I rather suspect that they are created in C++ by kids still wet behind the ears. And they are particularly likely to introduce new bugs.
Silly... I stand by my opinion.
Security Updates are created by highly skilled people in modifying a very complex program (Thunderbird) and they volunteer their time. What are you doing to help in that process? Other that casting uninformed aspersions that is?

Not just anybody can put in patches to say fix things as they are approved by those who know.

I see no evidence to support you claim of "highly skilled". There is an update every week or two which is not a sign of competence. I helped build a piece of software forty years ago that is still the industry standard and is seldom updated. More to the point, I came here looking for help and all I have gotten is abuse. What am I doing? I am looking at Opera mail.
