Every time I start Firefox on my Toshiba laptop, it disables the Toshiba ECO Utility which is used to extend battery performance. Each time, I must execute the ECO Utility to re-enable it. My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite S55-C with 12GB of RAM, running the Windows 10 Pro 64-bit OS.

Hmm, I wonder how Firefox could be communicating with this program. Is there a Toshiba ECO add-on in Firefox anywhere? You could check both the Plugins and Extensions on the Add-ons page, either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

You can list add-ons in a specific category by clicking the category in the left column.

Or maybe some Firefox feature or some add-on is informing Windows that it wants a certain power plan, for example, to allow long downloads without the system going to sleep. I haven't heard of that before, but there are many features I don't know about...

There are no Toshiba ECO extensions or plugins that I could find. I am beginning to suspect a display driver built into Firefox, but I have not been able to find anything definitive.

This problem is only caused by Firefox. No other browsers that I use cause this problem.
