I cannot open PDFs for awhile now. I use Chrome to do so. I have tried EVERYTHING. So frustrated with Firefox
I've seen this problem multiple times all over the support form. I have tried everything. For awhile now, I cannot view PDFs on sites in Firefox browser. It shows up as a blank page.
I have tried everything: changing application to use built-in, changing it to Adobe Reader, changing it BACK to built-in.
I have also tried re-installing Firefox completely.
All my add-ons and plugins are up to date. I use Chrome to view PDFs. So far, Firefox has let me down a lot with this big, annoying issue. I don't want to keep changing back browsers.

Which viewer are you trying to use for PDFs? For example, the built-in viewer ("Preview in Firefox"), Adobe Acrobat, etc. This article has the steps to check and, if you like, adjust the setting to see whether it makes any difference: View PDF files in Firefox or choose another viewer.

In another thread, someone mentioned a preference that can block PDFs from displaying in Adobe Acrobat. I haven't experimented with it myself:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste full and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types preference and if you find application/pdf remove that (and any extra comma left behind), or you can right-click/Ctrl+click > Reset the preference to blank it out.

I tried this and reset the plugin. Restarted Firefox. Tried to open a PDF.

Is Acrobat set to "Always Activate" on the Add-ons page? Either:
- Cmd+Shift+a
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Plugins. On the right side, make sure that Adobe Acrobat is set to "Always Activate".
If you open the Network Monitor in the lower part of the tab (you can do that using the Developer menu) and then reload using Cmd+Shift+r or Shift+clicking the reload button in the address bar, does the Network Monitor show that Firefox is loading the file successfully? That means you get a green dot, 200 success code, and the file is not zero in size.
