Firefox is unable to show the Toolbar. It tells me to re-install the Toolbar. How do I do this?

When I uninstalled Firefox and re-installed it, it is saying that it is unable to show the toolbar. How do I fix this? Also it is using 100% CPU when starting up. Is this normal?

go to Help Menu -> select "Restart with Add-ons Disabled"

Firefox will close then it will open up with just basic Firefox. Now

go to Tools Menu -> Add-ons -> Extensions section -> REMOVE any Unwanted/Suspicious Extension (add-ons) -> Restart Firefox

You can enable the Trustworthy Add-ons later. Check and tell if its working.

Thanks for that, mha007 but it is still giving me the same message. It is Firefox 5 I have just installed. Not being a "techie" I am a bit confused by all the changes.

Did as you suggested and the MenuBar and Navigation Bars were checked. I thought I would "uncheck" them to see what the difference would be and now I do not even have the View Menu or any of the others that were with it! How do I get them back? Sorry for all the stupid questions but I did warn you that I was not a techie.

I managed to get all of them back again but still am getting the message about FF not being able to show the Toolbar and asks me to re-install. Menu and Navigation Bars are checked when I go to View - Toolbars.

Uninstall Firefox. Search Mozilla Firefox in your Windows drive (C:\) and Delete all Mozilla Firefox folders found. Now Download & Install the latest version of Firefox for your platform from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/

Check and tell if its working.

OK.Tvm.Will try that.

I did all that. Found the Mozilla folder and deleted it but it is still telling me that it is unable to show the Toolbar. I have also used PC Health Advisor (from Paretologic) to check the registry etc before I downloaded the latest version of FF. The new Firefox button at the top left hand side of the screen which has the drop down menu items, is not there either. According to Help....About FF, it is version 5.0.1. if that is any help.

After fighting with my XP with the #5, I gave up, and kicked it to the curb. I reinstalled #4 again, while keeping my folders before deleting #5. All is well with the world again...it kept my bookmarks, but I had to re install my 2 add ons.Until they get this download right, I'll take my chances with the 4.1. It's too unstable.

I was beginning to think that way too. I will go off and uninstall FF5 for about the fourth time and see if I can get my old version back. Thanks for that.

Close Firefox (ALTF + F -> Exit)

Start Firefox in Safe Mode by Holding down the SHIFT key while Starting Firefox OR Open Windows Start Menu -> Run - enter one of the following in the Windows Run box:

1) firefox -safe-mode 2) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -safe-mode

Safe Mode window will appear -> Checkmark on ALL Options and click "Make Changes & Restart"

Check and tell if its working.

Thanks again, mha007. I will try that tomorrow. My brain is too frazzled to attempt anything else now. I'm off to bed! Night.
