Since the latest upgrade of Firefox I do not see a security padlock when I log in to my two secure bank web sites so am forced to use IE and both banks say the problem lies with Firefox, not their systems.

Since the latest upgrade of Firefox (Version 4.0.1) I do not see a security padlock when I log in to my two secure bank web sites so am forced to use Internet Explorer for internet banking. I have contacted both St George Bank and ANZ Bank and both say the problem lies with Firefox, not their systems. They also strongly advise me not to conduct internet banking unless the closed security padlock is visible in the secure window. The padlock is also not visible when I log in to PayPal's secure site. Prior to the upgrade this problem did not exist and it does not exist when I use IE. Firefox is my preferred browser.

The whole status bar was redesigned, so now you use the area to the left of the address (green, blue, or plain) to check whether the site is secure.

Other discussions about this change mention an add-on you can use if you really prefer seeing a lock:
