It doesn't crash every time, but when it does, if I restart and try to save image/video/etc. again, it will usually keep crashing a string of times before it finally allows me to download without going "Not Responding" and at which point I have to force quit.

I've tried browsing other solutions but nothing seems to work or be applicable. I'm running Firefox 78.15.0esr (64-bit) on an El Capitan 2010 iMac.

Thanks for your help!

We're sorry to hear that Firefox is crashing. In order to assist you better, please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A list of Submitted/Unsubmitted Crash Reports will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Submitted Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.

Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

Hi Seburo, thanks for the response; unfortunately there are no recent crash reports, I guess because it's technically not crashing but "hanging". Basically it becomes non-responsive, I get the spinning wheel and have to force quit.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Hi Fred, thanks for the response. Yes it still crashes in safe mode. I appreciate the troubleshooting links you've provided, I tried those suggested in the article for hanging, and unfortunately the others do not seem applicable.

Some additional information that may help diagnose? I noticed it also crashes when, for instance, the export dialogue comes up when saving bookmarks back-up as html.

Hi Seburo, I just discovered that upon having to force quit Firefox when it does the hang, I am able to get an apple report which seems to document the Firefox hang... is that what you're looking for, or would that be helpful in seeking to diagnose? Thanks again
