Recently, AOL increased their security protocols and their hosted emails no longer work in Thunderbird. Are there plans to update Thunderbird to utilize these new protocols? I have similar issues with Microsoft hosted emails, ie: Hotmail.com & Outlook.com Thank you , David

I don't understand the issue. AOL does now use app passwords, but that is working with TB. Also, TB works with Outlook, as I have an Outlook account. However, maybe I'm missing the gist of your concern.

My AOL hosted "verizon.net" email was working fine for years and recently stopped. Last working was Jan 18th. Have tried deleting and resetting as new, still not working. The AOL hosted emails also stopped working on my iPhone but deleting and resetting fixed the iPhone and iPad. I have not tried "hotmail.com" in a while. David

I had a similar issue posted a few days ago. The password you might use on AOL webmail will not be the password you need for TB. You need to create an app password. I located a URL that has more info that may assist. https://www.bitrecover.com/blog/generate-aol-mail-app-password/
