Recently someone was able somehow to learn the password for one of my accounts. To eliminate that from happening again, I changed all my accounts and also decided to erase all auto logins. I have searched on the Internet, followed Foxfire instructions and have been able to eliminate some but not all listed logins. Do I have uninstall and reinstall Foxfire to get a clean slate or is there a full proof way for me to get it done without all that fuss. For the remaining logins that I can't eliminate, I get the message "discard unsaved changes." If I do that, then the original user name and password returns. So the system is not totally eliminating all the data. One login and password in particular is troublesome because it's to my financial account. I realize now that saving logins was a mistake, and I want eliminate any of that kind of data from my Foxfire. Please advise. Thanks

PS: I use only Mozilla and DuckDuckGo. On rare occasions I use Google. I never use Internet Explorer.

Hi bakerrrr, did you try using the main "Logins and Passwords" page to delete logins? When you select a login by clicking it in the list in the left pane, the right side should have a Delete button. More info in this article:

Edit or delete a login with the Firefox Password Manager

Are there some that can't be deleted?

There also is a file you can physically delete if you prefer knowing that it's truly gone. Let me know if you want the steps for that.

Finally, do you have your Firefox connected to a Firefox Account? Possibly Sync could make it difficult to delete logins if they are saved in your other Firefox installation(s). However, when things are working properly, deleting in one Firefox should remove them from the others, too.

Un-installling Firefox won't affect any of your Firefox data files, that isn't done by merely un-installing Firefox. A separate manual removal is required to remove user saved data, including Logins data to get a "clean slate" short of reformatting the entire operating system. And in most cases that is completely a waste for time for an installed application like Firefox and most other applications.

How/Where are you trying to remove the logins that you get this "discard unsaved changes" alert ?

You can rename/remove logins.json and key4.db in the profile folder to remove all logins stored in the Password Manager including for the Firefox Account that are hidden from Lockwise.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
