When copying events, how can I turn off the "select writeable calendar" window. This used to not happen. I've already selected the calendar I wish to copy to.

Since Lightning last updated, when I create an event, and then I want to copy that event using crtl-C and crtl-V, each time the "select calendar" window appears. I've already selected the proper "writable" calendar from the list to the left of the calendar. This has just started. It has not done this in the years I've been using the Thunderbird/Lightning applications. It is new and I need a way in which to turn it off. It adds a completely unnecessary step to what was a very speedy process.

Right-click the calendar you want to paste to in the left pane of the Calendar tab - Properties. Make sure 'Read Only' is not checked.

First off, only non-checked Read Only calendars show in the list on the Select Calendar screen. Your resolution is a moot point in this case.

One thing I did not mention. My calendars are all Google calendars using the add-on Provider for Google Calendar ver 4.4.2 by Philipp Kewisch. I've been using Thunderbird, Lightning, and the Provider for Google Calendar.

The left pane calendars that are not readable display a padlock image. The calendar I am pasting to is a writable calendar. As a matter of fact, the calendar I am copying from and pasting to is the same calendar. I have already selected the calendar from the left pane. Why should I have to select it again?

There is a new screen that has been introduced to Lightning since the last build. That screen is the "Select Calendar" screen. that to me, is redundant. All this screen does is add an unnecessary step. I want to turn it off.

Again, why would I need to re-select a calendar I've already selected?

Is there a way to turn this screen off? It is like a "Do You Really Want to Do This" interruption. I am not formatting a hard drive here.

I don't know what you're doing, but copying and pasting an event within the same calendar is just a matter of right-clocking the event to copy, and right-clicking the desired date to paste the event. There is no 'Select Calendar' prompt involved.

I am doing just what you describe...for years.

"right-clocking the event to copy, and right-clicking the desired date to paste the event".

Once I complete that process, a screen pops up entitled as I described. That screen lists all of my writeable calendars and asks that I choose one. I earlier attached a screen shot of the upper left corner of the screen. I am using Thunderbird 60.5.0 (32-bit) and Lightning 6.2.5 along with the Google Calendar Provider as described i my previous post.

This is down to guessing now.

You could try to delete the Google Calendar in Thunderbird, restart Thunderbird, and re-create the calendar.

If that doesn't help, you could try to set up the calendar via CalDAV instead of the Provider add-on.

Are you familiar with the "Select Calendar" screen of which I am speaking?

more options

Yes, but only in the context of importing events into a calendar from a file.

This is not that context. I appreciate your attempt to help but this is a different situation. It has just started to manifest itself. I may try to revert to an older version of Lightning and see what transpires.

I don't think that this would be a good idea, as Thunderbird and Lightning versions are not independent from each other.

It is up to you to follow the suggestions given above or not.
