When I open Firefox, it brings up a page from months ago, with five ancient tabs.

When I open a Firefox windox, it includes five tabs from months ago ago instead of a blank window. The tabs are always the same. How can I stop this and get a blank window?

You may have corrupt sessionstore file(s). Delete all sessionstore* files and the sessionstore-backups folder.

Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Locate the above file. Then rename or delete it. Restart Firefox.

This probelm has never occurred with session restore. It always occurs when I double click on the desktop icon to open a new window.

I do not want to lose the tabs I have open now. I use them as reminders; every open tab refers to something which requires further attention.

Do you still recommend the instructions above?

Open a new window, or start Firefox?

Usually when I open Firefox, I get a session restore, and the offending page does not open. On one or two occasions when the previous session had been lost, I got the offending page. I always get it when I open a new window.

Have you done this;

Will doing this delete my present session? If so, is there any simple way to store it somewhere? (I know of a time consuming way to recover it; I'm hoping for an easier way.)

I think so, but I don't know how. I called for more help.
