Hi! I have a simple Q: what does "Use a background service to install updates" mean? Its a setting under FF / advanced/ update.

I have avast! antivirus on my PC, and it just offered to update FF for me. Is this an example of that?

Avast offering to update FF or other programs is nothing to do with it, and is an option that you can turn off within that program - Settings > Tools > Software Updater.
