My Firefox 44.0.2 does not open the Preferences page. I refreshed Firefox, noting changed. I ran malware scan on my PC (Windows 7) - noting found. I ran virus scan, as well - noting again. After the refresh I cannot change the settings back to what I need, because the Preferences page is not working. What can I do to solve this issue? Thanks in advance!

You can check for problems with preferences.

Delete possible user.js and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in current Firefox releases.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.

Under the page logo on the left side you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To it’s right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

See if there is a prefs anything file.

Yes, there is a prefs.js file in that folder. It is not showing Preferences in Safe Mode either.

Thanks to all! None of the above worked. That's why I totally uninstalled Firefox (with YourUninstaller!) and installed a new copy. Now it is much faster and everything works. Thanks!

That was very good work. Well Done. Please flag your last post as Solved Problem so others will know.
