When opening a previous browsing session, tabs don't load when selected, must reload.
My Firefox browser just upgraded itself to 30.0. I just discovered that when opening a previous browsing session, the previously open tabs don't load when I click on them; I must reload them. Sometimes I does reload correctly, but at other times it does not; if I don't copy the web address of the tab I am going to reload, it will sometimes go to a different page of the same web address. This is not how Firefox 29.0.1 behaved. I have the same add-ons and extensions I had with Firefox 29.0.1, and 29.0.

I refreshed a link for the drought page for Kansas City, MO: http://www.crh.noaa.gov/eax/?n=drought. I did not get the page I was expecting. When I refreshed it, I got this page: http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/predictions/814day/814prcp.new.gif. The second link is an image on the first web page, obviously not what I was expecting. Can Firefox be trusted anymore, or am I just going to have to learn which tabs can be safely refreshed, and which tabs cannot? This is frustrating, and potentially time consuming.
You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
- Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
- Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
- Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
- Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
- Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
I cleared the cache yesterday afternoon. As far as cookies for the sites causing problems, I have a lot of tabs open, 994 to be exact, for various topics, including the stock market, so knowing which sites would cause a problem could be very hard. As much as I enjoy using Firefox, I no longer use it for charting individual stocks , because it crashes so much. I have a significant number of tabs open concerning stock market topics. (I use IE 11 for that, and IE has problems too. It is not perfect either). Firefox crashes about every other day or so. It has crashed 113 times since August 14, 2013. The most recent crash is Bug 1002546 (using Firefox 29.0.1). I don't really want to put Firefox into safe mode, since I do use the extensions. Also, as I stated above, I did not have this issue with Firefox 29.0 or 29.0.1
I see there is a fairly easy way to clear cookies, especially when there are a large number of them: right click on the page, choose "view page info", then click on the security tab.
You can also inspect and manage the cookies for the domain in the currently selected tab via the "Site Identity Button" (globe/padlock) on the location bar.

- Click "More Information" to open "Tools > Page Info" with the Security tab selected
- Click "View Cookies" to view the cookies for the domain in the currently selected tab
My browser crashed a few minutes ago. https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/4f5e95f5-ebde-4d88-b1d1-f19c62140612 That is the same crash issue I have been experiencing for a while. Now, after Firefox reopened, all of the tabs I click on respond properly, even those I didn't click on my first time with Firefox 30.0. No need to reload them now. This all seems very strange. Everything now seems back to normal, and I didn't do anything except click restart.
