Our e-mail became slow, and wont open new e-mails. This has been for at least a week. A few days ago our e-mail account stopped working cokmpletely, and when prompted to sign in, it does not recognize our password. I am contacting you via a different e-mail as we have no access to hrttohrt@charter.net, which has been our primary e-mail account in thunderbird for years. What can we do?

Kubuntu 24.04 Firefox 154.01

{Quote from Mozilla Support:} "Impact on data after a password reset: If you reset your account password with a recovery key, you keep access to encrypted sync data (like bookmarks, passwords and settings) on Mozilla’s servers."

"Without the recovery key, this synced data is erased for security. However, if you reset your password on a device that has a local copy of your data, signing in with your new password will re-upload the local data to Sync. On a device without local data, the synced data will be permanently lost." {Unquote}

   I am already "signed-in" (by Password Mgr.) so can't get
   the Mozilla Account Sign-in Dialog, so don't see a link to
   "Forgot Password"

{Quote from Mozilla Support:} "Impact on data after a password reset: If you reset your account password with a recovery key, you keep access to encrypted sync data (like bookmarks, passwords and settings) on Mozilla’s servers. The recovery key keeps this data connected to your account. Without the recovery key, this synced data is erased for security. However, if you reset your password on a device that has a local copy of your data, signing in with your new password will re-upload the local data to Sync. On a device without local data, the synced data will be permanently lost." {Unquote}

   So if I "log out", my data will be erased, and I don't know where -
   or if - I have a local copy. So far, a search hasn't found anything
   or I don't know exactly what to search for. Catch-22. If I could
   get back to the login dialog without losing the stored data, I HAVE
   a Recovery Key.
   What can I do? Please help me, O'Obi Wan Kanobe!

I have forgotten my password and even my username in Thunderbird mail. When I try to get a new password, they send it by email. Since I cannot get into email I do not get the code. I want to completely remove my account from the server so I can start fresh. This takes me to username and email + password. I enter the new details and the server having not deleted my account sends, "Incorrect email or password. This is why I want to delete it completely so I can really start a fresh setup. I am using Ubuntu 2404.

Thank you for your help.

I have been using Thunerbird for many years. Lin fixed a problem with an f8 toggle issue last week but I had 2 downloads for thunderbird in my desktop I tried to open 1 of them and it said there was a file it could not open. I opened the other one and it asks for my password. I keep 2 notebooks with my passwords but I can't find one for thunderbird. I tried to do a restore in windows 11 but the restore point from weeks ago said it could not complete because of an open vpn or some other file. There are no earlier restore points because I had a new ssd and some memory upgrades. Is there a way to recover that password? Probably no problem if I opened it from the tray but I was working on a printer problem at the time and had the desktop open. Thank you
