When I open GCT.com I get an error message, the last month or so. Why?

more options

I would get emails from Grand Circle Travel or go into my account at GCT.com. Cannot do this anymore. I get a "Server Error in "/" Application" message, then Runtime Error, then more stuff like description, details. I do not know how to fix this.

This has happened for the last month or so. When I call Grand Circle, they say it must be my computer. I have not changed anything on my computer, but we have added a Smartphone (Apple 5c). Could this be the problem? It should not be.

Thank you.

Some things to try:

(1) Flush old site-related data
(2) Deactivate extensions
(3) Test with full session cookies allowed

For #1: When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache

Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.

Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

For #2, test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode. That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using

Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled (Flash and other plugins still run)

In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset)

Any difference?

For #3, I don't see any problem in your settings, but you could try the site in a private window. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+p
  • orange Firefox button (or File menu) > New Private Window
