Hi, Until last year i could normally d\load and install addons. Then i did an update to firefox 3 and it became impossible to update those installed addons or to d\load new ones. I've followed all the advice here: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Unable%20to%20install%20add-ons without any result even made a totally clean install of firefox. Still not able to install any plugin or theme, getting the message: "Firefox could not install the file at

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/downloads/latest/722/addon-722-latest.xpi?src=addondetail

because: Download error -228" I can go to the developers site to download the .xpi file and do a manual installation, but this has to be done for every addon and every theme, and every time i need to update those, so it's a pain in the back side. Is there a solution to this problem? Thanks

This problem can also be caused by a firewall that is blocking content.

Indeed, i forgot to say that i disable the firewall as well as the antivirus software during the above attempts, but without any result. Thanks for the reply.

Sometimes you only disable the user interface of security software, but the firewall services are still running in the background. So make sure that you give Firefox full access in the firewall.

I gave it a try, disabled the firewall (shutdown zone alarm) and checked with the task manager, no instances of the firewall were running. Again no luck.
