Firefox won't "show my windows and tabs from last time"

Even though I choose this setting in Preferences, Firefox always opens with my home page, rather than the windows and tabs from the previous session.

If you use Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox in Firefox 3.5/6 or Clear Private Data in Firefox 3 to clear the 'Browsing History' when Firefox is closed then restoring tabs from the last session (e.g. "Save & Quit" or "Show my windows and tabs from last time") doesn't work.

It would be nice if Firefox presented a warning or prompt when these settings conflict with each other.

Btw, this also occurs when you have selected Privacy settings including "Use custom settings for history" and then "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"

I have the same problem even though I have Firefox set to remember the history. I have stopped using Firefox because of this and will likely uninstall it soon if this isn't remedied. My troubleshooting info is below. Please help!
