Is there a search bar any more? It's not in customization or options, so how do I turn it on. Or do I need an add-on?

Yes, the search bar normally is toward the right end of the main navigation toolbar. Occasionally if you end up with too many buttons, some controls from the toolbar will "overflow" onto a drop-down. The button for the drop-down has a >> icon. If you find that, you can use Customize to move the search bar into a more useful location since it doesn't work well on the overflow list.
If it's not there either, consider using the "Restore Defaults" button at the bottom center of the Customize tab to return the toolbars to "factory" defaults. This article has the details on Customize: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars.

I had to "Restore Defaults", then put all the buttons back. Glad to see the return on the "Home" button as well.
Thanks,
