Starting a year ago, I have intermittently been getting this pop-up several times per day regarding a Firefox 35.0 software update to Firefox 34.0.5. I clicked the decline button the first time it ever appeared since I thought it was a normal update, but avast immediately started detecting malware. After having the malware removed, I stopped getting the message for a few months, but it returned and continues to reoccur. It's clear to me that this is a virus because its Firefox logo at the top left corner is hazy (copied jpeg image instead of official logo), its grammar and phrasing are unprofessional, and it has multiple links. Has anyone else been getting this message, and could you please suggest how I might resolve this issue? Thank you!

hello shmails, this is likely a problem with malware already active on your system. please perform all these steps:

  1. reset firefox (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
  2. afterwards go to the firefox menu ≡ > addons > extensions and in case there are still extensions listed there, disable them.
  3. finally run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner to make sure that adware isn't present in other places of your system as well.
