accidentally hit save password on bank, and it showed all my passwords. Had bank tell me what to do to fix it. they had me go to tools, then options, then Privacy, and Security. They fixed that ok, but now Firefox won't remember things like my E-mail address, or facebook. Now I have to type in my address every time I go to my e-mail. can you tell me what to do to get it working again. Thank You.

You may have just done something as simple as delete your cookies. When you log into those websites do you check the "remember password" box? Or does it not save your log in even with that checked. You might just need to resave your log in to the cache by selecting the "Save password" box on the websites you go on. (That will save your email/username as well)

Gonna need just a little bit more info. What options did you change exactly? If you changed the setting to select custom settings for history make sure you select for Cookies> Keep until, select till they expire. That or it could be a cache problem. But other than that I'll need more info on what options you changed.

that's my problem. I don't know what it was before I changed it

Did your bank have you un-check Remember passwords for sites?

If that is the case, check that box so that your other saved passwords will work, and open Saved Passwords..... Then under Site click on the entry for your bank (so it is highlighted) and then use the Remove button to remove that username / password for your bank - make sure that you don't accidentally hit the Remove All button, as that will delete all your passwords.

under saved passwords there is nothing in the box

Is there a check-mark in front of Remember passwords for sites'?

That preference turns the password manager on (with the check-mark) and off. It won't ask to save passwords when it is off.

Yes there is a check mark there

Details like websites remembering you (log you in automatically) are stored in a cookie.

  • Create a cookie 'allow' exception to keep such cookies, especially in case of secure websites and when cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
  • Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: Exceptions

In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":

  • do not clear the Cookies
  • do not clear the Site Preferences

Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data.

Clearing cookies will remove all specified (selected) cookies including cookies with an allow exception that you would like to keep.
