Need to write a small text file, Firefox is running on standalone computer

We have a computer using Firefox as the front end on a stand alone computer. We want to write a script that will print a small text file to a drive to save information on user selections for new sessions.

Linux is the operating system.

What would the java script for this be?

What kind of information do you want to write?

Is that file supposed to run inside Firefox or do you want to interact with Firefox via an external script?
