I have Firefox version 3.6.4. When I am watching youtube videos, Firefox freezes, and I can only close the browser by using the task manager. I have not noticed this happen when I am viewing videos on other websites. Also, this does not happen when I watch youtube videos in Internet Explorer. This problem just recently started occurring.

I have this bug too. I have actuall Flash

This happens to me too. Happens at the start of the video, feels like if it happens more often on some videos, audio may start but video instantly freezes within 2 seconds and then none of the buttons in Firefox work -> must kill using task manager.

So this doesn't happen everytime but when watching many videos it will eventually crash.

Also I have Vista 64 and this problem started occuring within few weeks, no problems at all before this. (problem with new flash or firefox?)

Happens in safe mode with only flash enabled. Tried reinstalling Firefox and flash players.

I thought Firefox 3.6.6 shouldn't crash when plugins fail. Also Shockwave Flash version 10.1.53.64.

Actually this seems to be mostly a problem with the mentioned version of flash as I installed flash to IE8 and it had similar problems with youtube videos.

However the plugin-container feature does not seem to work as intended, if I understood it correctly. Plugin-container is not dropped automatically after 45 seconds when a video crashes the flash and only way to continue browsing is to kill either plugin-container or firefox manually from the task manager.

Same problem. Re-installing java, flash and firefox does not change anything. All modules are up to date (rechecked). I'm on Vista.

Solved thanks. I fixed it here! I have Comodo Internet Security 5.016. consisting of Antivirus / Defense / Firewall. In the Defense+ (a host intrusion prevention module) tab there is a section called "Computer Security Policy". Firefox is in this list. I double clicked the entry and changed "Use a Custom Policy" to "Use a Predefined Policy" then selected "Trusted Application" and hit apply. That did the trick.

Firefox 3.6.13 still having this freeze problem playing youtube videos.

Do not know if this has something to do with plugins.

Also encountered freezing having several tabs open (not more than 7).

Only task manager helps to kill firefox in this state. The problem is always reproducible than using the restore session feature.

I tried downloading Flash Player 10.2.153.1 (Non-IE Browsers) from the site below and it works. So far so good, but I will be monitoring it over the next few days.

If the system registry is corrupted, it affects the entire system performance including the browser. The browser then starts working abnormally. It also fails to play videos in YouTube. You need to remove all corruptions in the system registry with appropriate tools to fix the issue. RegFix, RegCure are some among these tools.
