About 50% of the time when I treat to read my Mindspring (earthlink predecessor) email which is on the earthlink servers, I get the message, "Login to server imap.mindspring.com with username **********@mindspring.com failed." If I retry anywhere from 1-10 times, it logins in fine. If I login to earthlink/mindspring directly through their springmail reader, there is never an authentication issue.

This also never occurs when I login to my gmail account with thunderbird.

I am using tbird 78.6.1. Can anybody suggest a fix?

MindSpring Domain Customers can use the following IMAP settings: (Note: The EarthLink settings will work for MindSpring domain names as well.)

TEST: If you make sure you have logged off / closed connection/switch off phone - when accessing by phone, does Thunderbird connect ok? Is Thunderbird failing when a connection between MailSpring and phone is still working?

Thinking out aloud here: Wondering if mailspring offers few connections eg: courier.
