My HTML signature appears as plain text and I cannot manage to color any message text.

In the last few days, since just before today's update to v. 52.4.0 , I have been unable to assign colors to any text appearing in messages, sent or forwarded. My default has always been HTML and that does not seem to have changed, but the text appears only in black but in any specified font. My signature file is in HTML, shows correctly in Word or Firefox, but in a message body appears only in the default color, black.

FYI: Thunderbird is running under Windows 7, SP1, 64-bit.

You mention word. No HTML file is worth examining for the cause of trouble if Word is involved in the equation.

Microsoft Word is not involved in the problem - I just used it as a tool to check if the HTML problem was duplicated outside Thunderbird. It is not.

Note that I also discovered that, although TB will not allow me to change text colours, it does still allow font changes. So my signature appears in the specified typeface but not in the specified color.

I tried to insert the HTML code of my signature in this reply; but that does not work, even in Firefox!

How did you create the HTML file? Did you use Thunderbirds 'Write' message composition window to create the signature HTML file?

re :TB will not allow me to change text colours Are you trying to doing this via the 'Formatting Bar'?

Open the saved .HTML file using something like Notepad. Make sure all the text is clearly visible. Take a screendump of window - using the 'prt scr' print screen key. Paste into program like 'Paint', Save as jpg and then post image in this forum, so we can see html code.

Confirm you set up account to use that signature file. see image below

If yours look different please report back with info.
