I'm at the end of my rope with these annoying popup and rollover newsletter sign-up and site subscription things that require Xing out of before you an read. I'm a freelance writer, and time is money. Every one of those I run up on costs me time. I've literally blacklisted dozens of sites because of this intrusive design element.

There has to be an add-on that isn't so complicated only a programmer can make it work right that will rid me of these monsters. I have Ad-Block Plus. I tried No-script, but it slowed everything down so much, and I couldn't figure out how to set it for just some elements. Please tell me there is something that can save me!

Hi, make sure you have pop-up blocker enabled Pop-up blocker settings, exceptions and troubleshooting.

If you are still getting a lot of them, in spite of having Adblock Plus, it may be that you have picked up some malware, so try these free programs, which work with your existing antivirus software:

I suggest starting with Adw Cleaner, but note that not all removal programs will detect all malware, so you may need to run several or all of them.

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one. Windows 8 has antivirus built-in already.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

These are not malware. They are purposely put there by the website owners to get people to sign up to their site. They aren't regular popups, they are specialized scripts, so popup stoppers don't touch them.

Thanks anyway, but some stock answers are completely unhelpful.
