change number of recently closed windows firefox remembers

more options

Hi, I want to increase the number of recently closed windows which Firefox remembers. It currently remembers three recently closed windows, but frequently when I click on hyperlinks (not pop-ups) they automatically open in new windows, which functionally deletes the record of windows I had open and wanted to refer to again... only now they're gone, seemingly forever. Is there some setting to change this? I don't need or want Firefox to remember my entire browsing history, I just want to be able to revisit 6 or 7 recently closed windows because 3 is not enough. Thanks.

Chosen solution

By default, Firefox only stores 10 "Previously closed tabs" per window and 3 "Previously closed windows." To increase those values:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste sess and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo preference and enter your preferred number of windows (I have 10).

(4) If desired, double-click the browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo preference and enter your preferred number of tabs (I have 20).
