I leave my pc running all night. I will have only my email tab open and when i get up in the am another tab is open and it might say "sponsor" on the tab and within the screeen it will say fix your slow problem now or a new game it wants me to down load. Its annoying . I'm ready to delete Firefox and go back to Internet exployer if it doesnt not bringing up this garage. Ive ran security checks and I dont have a virus. What is causing this new tab to appear?

Most likely this is caused by unwanted software on your computer. In past threads (e.g., How can I keep Firefox from opening a window to website tofushopnews.com), users have discovered a new DSite folder containing a program that launches ads in your default browser, and a scheduled task listed in the Windows task scheduler that runs that program at the same time every day. This has been associated with "Update for Zip Opener" and "Update for Codecs" (and probably other programs) but may require manual removal.

To find the path to the unwanted program, try looking here:

Windows XP: Start button > [All] Programs > Accessories> System Tools > Scheduled Tasks

Windows 7: Start button > Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools > Task Scheduler

Also, try the malware scanners recommended in this article: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware.

The forum software detected your Firefox as version 19. Is that correct?

Version 19 is not secure; Mozilla discloses security flaws after each new release. Is something holding you back from upgrading to Firefox 24? Please let us know so we can suggest solutions or workarounds.

If Help > About Firefox shows Firefox 24.0, you may need to clear the preference that is misreporting your version number. See: Websites say that Firefox is outdated or incompatible even though it's the latest version.

Thank you for the quick response I found the scheduler and removed the one that I felt like was putting the "new Tab". I will also update my Mozilla as you suggested.

Hi Davideig, the main differences you'll notice between Firefox 19 and Firefox 24 are:

  • Page content is automatically zoomed to your Windows zoom level (this is especially noticeable on Windows 8 where Windows comes set to 125% instead of 100%, but could affect you if you changed the default setting). If that makes content too big, check out this article: Webpages are large and blurry after updating Firefox - how to fix.
  • Pages that embed insecure (HTTP) content in secure (HTTPS) pages will have a blank area and a new "shield" icon will appear to the left of the URL in the address bar. More info: Mixed content blocking in Firefox

Thank you again for the help. I found adware2 located in the set up file of Mozilla. I had to completely remove it ..re load it and now its working so far.
