Hi Maxx, can you explain the problem in more detail? In particular:

  • Are you trying to reload a tab that you're viewing (e.g., Ctrl+r or using the little reload arrow in the address bar)?
  • Are you trying to open new tabs using the menu or Ctrl+t, or using a link?
  • Are you trying to restore windows and tabs from your previous session? If so, is the problem that they do not come up automatically when you start Firefox, or that you can't get them AT ALL, e.g., Restore Previous Session on the History menu is grayed out or doesn't work?

Hi I wrote you - FF worked smooth. Until a day with no Internet im moment FF started. You know what follows this ? Empty tabs ! That is what I try to revive. I have my tabs when FF starts but THEY ARE EMPTY

Just state what is your idea ? Reloading does not work. New computer cannot open tabs I want.

Have you skype. e-mail to contact ? It takes a lot of time to get your e-mail. make login / pass eytc.. but in a chat https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/964748 I do not see you.

Hi Maxx,

Sorry but I am not too sure I understand what you are trying to ask.

Two separate PCs will normally be separate and have independent data, however using something such as Firefox Sync it is possible to make some of that information update so it is similar on both machines.

Regarding your bookmarks these may be best seen in the bookmarks manager. By default Firefox tries to make some backup copies of your bookmarks, and once an item is bookmarked it should stay bookmarked unless you delete it.

The tabs that you see from the last session of Firefox are a slightly different matter. Firefox tries to keep track of them but the system may be slightly fragile. If an open tab is important it may be a good idea to bookmark it rather than relying on Firefox to always reopen that tab.

OK now i see you in a chat. What is the idea to save my work of many months ?

Hi John99 . Do not worry - I solved all with bookmarks.

I am trying desparately to save TABS. That is why I mpved profile to new pc. What would you do in my place ? However this is also no solution.

So let us concentrate on tbbs/ The tabs are present. but empty. Upon stsrt of reload I see the FF starts rewiving them but very fast drops it and they become anew empty.

Any solutution ?

I removed FF from PC. Installed again. Same picture - empty tabs. Can this bug be solved ? What is your idea ? I cannot get anew these about 90 tabs - it is a work of 5 nothts.

Hi jscher2000 . You seem to underestimate yr product. Fot more than 5 months all was well , no problem with tabs of last session. However Firefox, has a bug - without internet present tabs become blank - empty, and cannot be reloaded.

Sure I can get them tabs ALL, but have no uinstrument - e.g., Restore Previous Session - it is blocked on my version of FF (is gray and I cannot start it) . So on the History menu it is grayed out so what is your idea to make it 't work? Do pyu think if it works that my tabs will be reloaded ? Or FF opens them in new tabs ? It would be drastic.

Please update to Firefox 22 Update Firefox to the latest version, then rephrase your issue as I can't understand it.

Already have 22 ver of FF. No use - same empty tabs.

I rephase you my position - I want to rewive my tabs.

Your idea please.

Foe example jscher2000 proposed to operate via Restore Previous Session - it is blocked on my version of FF (is gray and I cannot start it) . So on the History menu it is grayed out. But yet he did not specify hoe to tackle this,

Snf you - so what is your idea to make FF work?

When you see the tabs bookmark them.

Do not rely on Firefox always reopening tabs from your last session. It should do that but it does not always work. If a tab is important bookmark it.

I do not have time at the moment to explain fully how to attempt to recover some of the lost tabs but as a first step immediately backup the profile (That is where Firefox tries to store your session tabs amongst other things ).

Hi Maxx,

You are correct that Firefox will try to reload the tabs from the internet. I think another user complained recently that it would be faster and more convenient if Firefox loaded the cached version of the pages instead. However, I am not aware of a way to force Firefox to do that.

Is Firefox working "offline"?

tap the Alt key > File menu > Work Offline

You may want to save your tab URLs now.

  • One way is to save your sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files to a safe location. Please see the article John99 linked to in his last reply.
  • Another option might be to bookmark all the tabs. If you right-click a tab, there is an option to Bookmark All Tabs, which means all tabs in that window (you have to do this in each window).

By the way, if you press Ctrl+n to open a new window, can you open any pages in the new window? If not, did this start after updating Firefox? Sometimes there is an issue where your security software will block Firefox suspecting that it was changed without your approval. Please see this article: Fix problems connecting to websites after updating Firefox.

HI scher2000

  1. . Reload bookmarks - not work. All tabs now are marked "NEW TAB"
  2. . Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button - - not work. this reloads ONLY a tab I opened after crash
  3. . Another option might be to bookmark all the tabs. If you right-click a tab, there is an option to Bookmark All Tabs, which means all tabs in that window (you have to do this in each window). - - not work. All tabs now are marked "NEW TAB" in bookmark set and they are empty as in tab windows
  4. . One way is to save your sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files to a safe location.

Cannot start this, pls specify more ample the procedure and how to extract URLs of tabs later.

Pls have some time to explain fully how to attempt to recover some of the lost tabs

Hi Maxx, if you open sessionstore.bak in a text editor and search for http, you should be able to find the URLs of the tabs that were open in your last session. Firefox only remembers the last session, but if you were using the Tab Mix Plus or SessionManager extension, then those add-ons may allow you to go back to an earlier session.

HI scher2000 How can I get an sessionstore.bak  ? Specify procedure more ample.

In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":

  • do not clear the Browsing History

Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.

You can delete the prefs.js file and possible numbered prefs-##.js files and a possible user.js file to reset all prefs to the default value.

HI scher2000, Hi John99

Finaklly got sessionstore.bak All tabs marked About Blank

{"windows":

  [{"tabs":[{"entries":[{
  "url":"about:blank","ID":3518979214,"docshellID":0,"docIdentifier":85,"scroll":"0,0"}],"index":1,"hidden":false,"attributes":{}},{"entries":[{
  "url":"about:blank","ID":3518979592,"docshellID":0,"docIdentifier":86,"scro

ll":"0,0"}],"index":1,"hidden":false,"attributes":{}},{"entries":[{ ...

So this is only copy of last start of FF. How I can get ioriginal URL ' s ?

more options

Hi cor-el I do not use "Clear history when Firefox closes": However if I delete what you say - delete the prefs.js file and possible numbered prefs-##.js files and a possible user.js file to reset all prefs to the default value.. but I will possibly kill a chance to rewivw sites in tabs

What is your opinion how to get URL's of tabs ?

more options

If you do not have a sessionstore file that has those URLs then you can consider them as lost.

Hi cor-el  !

Finally got sessionstore.bak All tabs marked About Blank Any chance to find URL ' s other way ?

Hello !

Can anyone state that 1. FF has facility to restore tabs with appropriate URL' s from different previous date same as with Bookmarks where you can set date and FF retreives bookmarks as saved per this date

2. FF has facility to automatically open tabs when profile is transferred to new computer.

  2. 2
