Just for the record, I am running Firefox 32-bit on Windows 8 64-bit, (because I cannot find an official 64 bit Firefox installation), anyways onto the issue.

The issue began Yesterday, and I had Firefox for a while beforehand, February 9th 2013, The following functions are affected by the issue

  • The UI on the upper right hand side of ALL Firefox windows (browser, options, etc.)
  • Youtube video interface
  • flash games
  • The Entire Download interface
  • possibly other functions that I did not see

These functions are not responding to left mouse clicks, some are not responding to right mouse clicks either, this issue happens after I click somewhere other than those functions (ie. Blank space, text, other functions, open a window, etc.), this issue is temporarily resolved when I use ALT +TAB and return to the page, but the issue returns almost immediately after I click again. Because of this I find myself constantly pressing ALT+TAB,just to go about my regular business. This is not the result of any addons, or extensions (as I disabled them all, and the issue persisted). This issue does not affect other windows (ie. the file explorer, steam, games, etc.) I have not tried other browsers yet, but If I cannot resolve this issue permanently I will consider using an other browser for the sake of efficiency.

hello, can you try to replicate this behaviour when you launch firefox in safe mode once?

Hello again, sorry about the delay. I have restarted Firefox in safe mode, and the issue persists.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

See:

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

I upgraded from Firefox 18 to 19, it seems to have solved the issue. I will be back if it doesn't, but thank you all for your fast solution.
