While I am forever indebted to the Open Source community for making Firefox available as freeware, I have a problem in that I cannot download Firefox from the Google Play store because Google does not recognize my no-name tablet.

Is there any way I can obtain Firefox for my tabbie without having to search through reams of dubious sideloading software?

hello miss-tree, here is the official ftp-directory for the current firefox 15 for android: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mobile/releases/15.0/android/

click on the subdirectory that fits your language and download the apk-file...

Note for the time being there is no updater for Firefox. To maintain a secure browser, pick up stability fixes and new features you will need to manually install an updated version of Firefox.

If you would like to try the Nightly or Aurora builds they include a basic updater

Miss-Tree, what is your tablet brand and model? as there are some minimum hardware requirements like needing a ARMv7 cpu and best to have 512+MB Ram.
