when starting browser, the UPDATED tab still opens along with homepage tab.
Updated to the 3.6.22 ver. Now when I restart the browser the UPDATED tab along the homepage tab loads. I updated another computer the same way as I did this one and the problem does not exist on that computer.

I did all of those things and still the UPDATE tab loads when starting browser.
Did you try to delete the file prefs.js in the Firefox Profile Folder?

Windows may be hiding the.js file extension.

all folders are viewable. deleted file and still UPDATE tab open...
