The humanist's Question:

I will never understand how this machine behaves and why the matters addressed always requires some kind of technical approach that always misses the very matter at hand.

This time an obviously necessary function disappeared. The "back"- function has to be presented as it was, since the pages visited does not always allow backing. When giving feedback, the "submit"- button did not work.

I am exposed to large amounts of text that makes no real sense, as if the internet preceeded the playing of a real musical instrument, or as if the standards for typewriters suddenly had become obsolete.

The information given is either requiring the understanding of principles never really mentioned, or "user friendly" in a manner that suposes that I have no idea on how a "power on- off"- button works and the like.

Never heard of a "technical retard"? That's me, and you!

Chosen solution

Greetings.

Now - Nobody is obligated to speak in your manner of speech. Language is to be universal and easily accessible at which point you take a personal preference approach.

Its much like getting food. If you can't approach your supplier in a manner that he understand you he can not be held accountable for your lack of communication skills. Yes he may decide to invest and market to you in your specific way but thats not an obligation.

As for the back button.

I suppose you mean the drop down menu. It is accessible with right-click on the back/forward button. If you want the old interface specifically you can get that back with this:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/backforward-dropmarker/?src=api

And even if you don't mean that there are plenty of add-ons you could consider to achieve your goal whatever that may be.

Now, it is technically impossible for the default package to satisfy every user. That is why Firefox is open source. That is why its has a huge user base. That is why there are tremendous amounts of additional, optional functionality. So every user can tailor his Browser experience to satisfaction. It is the most versatile browser on the planet, instead of complaining that the default package doesn't suit your outlook of the world you might as well put a little effort and use what is already available to achieve that desired effect. And if you think the information and program base is somehow lacking. You can like millions of other join the project and collaborate, create, improve, help, share and create a new a better Firefox experience for everyone.

And there is no such thing as technical retards. There are mainly people who refuse to learn or conform to specific standards. You seem to be capable of speaking properly, so unless you have brain damage you are perfectly capable of delivering alternative phrasing that is more accessible to others if you wanted to.

This boggles my mind. Thanks. And "Social Tagging- Having prejudices..."

Hahaha...

Some terms makes perfect sense, like "dropmarker". There are probably several understandings regarding various concepts that I have to understand. I have had an extremely difficult situation and I left materialism behind many years ago. Now I am recognising many ideas from the science fiction writers in my youth.

The problem cannot be defined. I am convinced that this machine is lying to me. Simple actions are always evaded so that I can not do anything but continue wasting my life with nonsense, always requiring more things and more money. Material things are intended to be of support, not stealing from us!

It's impossible to work. Something seems to deliberately take decisions and to delete old bookmarks, suddenly refusing to allow search terms to be used, button stops working. All my work and all that I have collected, invaluable material, is stolen from me, something wispering "He stole from us". (Azazel)

This is like Amityville!

Ok: I have to retrieve my old bookmarks from the old hard drives now connected through USB external source. Something has deleted the bookmarks. I have not done this. The computer makes decisions regarding me that I do not approve of.

I need to retrieve/restore old programmes and libraries from the old, external hard drives, then freeing space on them.

Further I can not understand the question: "Windows cannot open this file unless it knows what program created it. WINDOWS CREATED IT! (?)

What basics am I missing?

The search engine does only deliver trivial results. It seems to censor me. Do i have to reach other servers?

On WinDVD it suddenly said that the movie could not " be played in that environment". (I have XP pro) This impersonator cannot implement laws for us. It's a machine, for God's sake!

I search for "The album of Mike and his Friends" and the web browser gives me Michael Jackson and at leats 50 pages of nonsense. Something has placed some societal control in my computer. Like a "Parental control". That is not how our laws work. I have many years of experience and something/ someone is imitating the authorities. Not even the police would interfere, unless they really had to.

If you have a question about bookmarks it may be better to start a new thread about that.

The comment

"Further I can not understand the question: "Windows cannot open this file unless it knows what program created it. WINDOWS CREATED IT! (?)

is understandable,
but although you may be using a Windows Computer, Windows is the Operating System, other "programs" however may be involved in creating some of the files on your computer.

Windows often co-operates with other programs when creating or reading files. For instance simple text files may be created with and read by the program Notepad. More complicated word processor text documents may be created and read by the program MS Word, whereas .pdf documents will often be read by a specialist pdf reader program.

Sternendiener,

I agree with you that your language is not offensive, but it can obscure your meaning. I gather that you have a problem with the back button. Try this page:

http://kb.mozillazine.org/Bookmarks_history_and_toolbar_buttons_not_working_-_Firefox

As for the problem with submitting feedback, I have noticed that Mozilla does not seem to like negative feedback. Submitting it does not work. On the other hand, submitting positive feedback works every time.

Update: There is a character limit (unstated) in those pages. Most people are more verbose when complaining, so the negative comments are more likely to fail to transmit.

Now my October history is missing. Sorry, but something has corrupted my operative program, and there are some reocurring errors, varying unexpectedly, that can not be explained by rational means.
