1. Check your link and/or have the meeting starter send you the link again. 2. Make sure you do not have any extra letters before or after the link. 3. If it still doesn't work, copy the exact error, letter for letter, and paste it here.

alright, so it looks like you are trying to open an mhtml file (.mht). mhtml is a file format used by microsoft products to save a web page that is made up of many files, as a single file.

To read this file/web page, you need to be able to open that sort of container file. There are a few things that might be able to view this file:

  1. You can try this firefox add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/mozilla-archive-format/
  2. You can try using Microsoft Internet Explorer to view the page
  3. You can try using Microsoft Word to open it if it is a file you have saved to your computer.
  4. You can try using Opera 9.0 or newer. http://www.opera.com/

I apologize for not giving this answer right off of the bat; a protocol error like that is most often something I encounter because people mistype links. I don't run into mhtml very often, so I'm not familiar with the errors it can generate. In fact, the only mhtml pages I've worked with have been corrupted (broken) ones that a client made and couldn't figure out how to fix. In the end, we had to start over from scratch on them because they were not fixable. That said, due to compatibility issues, and challenges in repairing damaged files, I don't recommend saving webpages as mhtml if you have a choice.

As for what the message means... It's pretty technical. A protocol is a method for two computer systems to talk to each other. For example, on the web, http (hyper text transfer protocol) is common. This is a set of rules your web browser uses when talking between your computer and the webserver that holds the website. What that error is saying is that you gave firefox a file or a link that said "use the protocol mhtml" and firefox basically said back to you "there is no such protocol. I've never heard of that set of rules. I don't know anyone who can tell me them."

The reason I asked you to check your links before is because the protocol is usually the first part of the link. I'd expect to see that error if you typed in mhtml://google.com, for example.

I'm going on a guess at this point that you are somehow getting that error because you are opening a page that is .mht instead, If you aren't, please list for me step by step what you did to get this error, including, if possible, the url you typed it, of the name of the file you tried to open.
