Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

msvcr90.dll crash error. Well I reinstalled the previous version of Firefox 6.0.2, that didn't do it, rolled back the flash to an earlier version cos it was crashing when flash seemed to load, that didn't fix it either Then I went to tools, add ons, then extensions and then I disabled AVG safe search and the problem is fixed - funny because that safe search has been working OK for some time though I do recall having problems with it a couple of years ago

I will try this. I have two versions of Windows XP SP3 on my PC on two different hard disks and I get the same failure on both systems. I suspect it may be the result of a recent update to XP.
