ff4 upgrade does not use the 202% larger text size set up in my desktop win7 control panel. How do I get ff4 to use the bigger font set up in win7 so I can read my screen?

I am not too sure what you are trying to do and am trying to keep this reply short by refering to another question/answer. This was discussed in detail: /questions/772884

  • If it is just the text in a web page you are concerned about use the zoom feature, eg by pressing keyboard key [control] with the [plus (+)] key.
  • If however it is all of the User Interface - the writing on firefox items & menus themselves, it is probably worth setting up your Win 7 OS settings to display other applications so that you can use them, and only then try setting firefox up because to some extent it will be affected by the OS settings.

You may then wish to experiment with changing one of the firefox preferences layout.css.devPixelsPerPx it is sugested you try increasing the value from the default of 1.0 in steps of .2 ie 1.2, 1.4, 1.6, etc. (presumably you will need a value of about 2.0)

After you have changed the preference you may need to use another add-on or script to alter some or all websites so that their content is suitable with the new settings.

(And as a side effect [bug] if you change the above preference you may find a minor problem if you then try using the bookmarks sidebar)

Thank you John99 for your reply. Yesterday, I did not understand your answer but today on a google help board someone said to push the ctrl while turning the wheel on my mouse and it worked. I bet that is similar to your 1st suggestion to hold down ctrl with the+. Also, since the upgrade I am homeless,in other words, my navigation toolbar has vanished along with it's little blue house. Hi Doris1old fox, I guess my answer yesterday was looking too deep into the possible problem with the zoom.
"I bet that is similar to your 1st suggestion"
Yes that is what the first part of my answer related to. The details are provideed in this article:

As for your homeless problem, I guess that also is a simple problem so use the following keyboard keys (Windows )

  1. pressAlt - that will temporarilly display the menubar, even if the firefox button is present, (or if the menubar is already present it will move the cursor there - possibly you may need to hold down the Alt key not just press it)
  2. then press the keys and release them again in this order V, T, N

That should get your navigation toolbar displaying again

If your problem is solved you should sign in to the messagebaord and mark the relavant answer as helpful, that will let others know you have found a suitable answer

' UNFORTUNATELY, I'LL HAVE TO GET RID OF FIREFOX AND GO BACK TO I.E., BECAUSE I CAN SEE IT. SORRY FOR THE CAPS, BUT IT'S ALL I CAN SEE.
