location bar shows past 'in private browsing' locations

during a recent 'in private browsing' session, the location bar showed previous 'in private browsing' webpages and prompted locations via 'autocomplete'. I thought it wasn't supposed to remember webpages during an 'in private' session? the webpages listed have NEVER been visited except during an 'in private' session. What's up with that?? Is there a cache someplace that needs to be deleted? The webpages do not show in History.
