How do I get my home page to appear when I open a new tab? Ii have an AVG toolbar and this was setting up yahoo as tab home page. I stopped that but now get a blank displayed when i open a tab rather than my home page.

Indeed, blank page when you open a new tab is the default behavior. You can customize it with the New Tab King Add-On.
