I was doing a normal search on Google when as I clicked a link (on the differences between methods and methodologies) a page showing graphic porn popped up. I thought that would not be possible.

This is not an issue with Firefox, but perhaps changing the Google safe search settings may help:

You can do a malware scan just to be sure.
