I have a Windows 11 original OS on my PC computer. I can install Thunderbird and it recognises my MS Hotmail Account and sets it up as normal. When I attempt to set up my gmail account I get the following error message: "Unable to log in at server. Probable wrong configuration, username or password." As far as I can tell all the details are correct. Anyone able to give me an idea how to get this working.

If you're trying to manually configure the account, don't. Automatic configuration is enough to set up Gmail in Thunderbird. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/automatic-account-configuration
