How can I get rid of those darned suggestions that keep popping up? When an order form asks for my address and I type in the four-digit house number, Firefox pops up a suggestion which is very often WRONG! I almost entered an address with the same numbers but in a different city, which that suggestion system popped up; fortunately, I caught the error before submitting my order. For me it's this simple: I DON'T WANT THOSE DARNED SUGGESTIONS! IT'S UP TO ME TO TYPE IN THE CORRECT ENTRY ON EACH FIELD.

Go to the Firefox settings page and select the Privacy & Security section on the left side of the page. Scroll down to the History area and change the drop-down option to Use custom settings for history. Make sure that the Remember search and form history option is unchecked.

Most of the adjustable preferences for firefox are not exposed the the preferences screens but need to be adjusted using about:config or customized file in your profile directory named user.js . An interweb search for the latter will initially seem overwhelming
