I have no master password. When I switch the same profile from Fx 75 to Fx 76 beta, not only am I required to "verify your identity to reveal the saved password", but the account username and password, the same I use for the sync login, is not accepted.

hello, this is a new feature in firefox 76 - the prompt is about the PIN or Password for your Windows user account (the rationale being that someone else that has brief access to the device shouldn't be able to easily unveil your credentials).

Can I assume you are referring to my Microsoft account username & password, which I just logged into the MIcrosoft website with, using 2 step verification, but as I said, they don't work. I can't remember ever establishing a pin.

Do your credentials work? Mine still don't, and I know they are valid. But I did discover that if you want to reveal the passwords saved by firefox 76, you must create a master password.

Hi, the same issue with me , Just updated from 75 to 76 and now can't access to my passwords and not even be able to create a master one. Everytime i use the PC's login password the Fx does not accept it nowhere and the whole browser closes!!! Everytime , when trying to set it up it closes ! Seems like a serious bug here - i'm in trouble i can;t use many of my logged-in places .

I have the same problem starting today. When I try to view a stored password, I get a pop-up window saying: Windows Security -Mozilla Firefox- Verity your identity to reveal the stored password.

Then it gives my name and asks for the password. What password is it asking for? I've tried my Firefox password and my Windows password. I don't have a pin.

If it's the Master Password, I never set up one, and when I try to, it asks again for my password. What is going on? Is this a bug?

How do I regain access to my save passwords?

As a workaround you can try this :

Type in the address bar   about:config   and press Enter.
(ignore the warning)

Type in the search bar and look for the preference :

signon.management.page.os-auth.enabled

Change its value to   false.

Then close and restart Firefox.

(this preference may be removed sometime in the near future )

Have not updated to 76.0 yet because they built in 2 heavy nonsense "features":

""Windows and macOS now requires a login to your operating system account before showing your saved passwords""

I do NOT want this bondage of use, want to decide on MY own, if password is required for password-watch.

""The bookmarks toolbar has expanded slightly in size to improve its surface area for touchscreens."" Have 26 "files" in bookmark bar (on PC), with hundreds of important links in them.

Must know where this is repairable, before I update. ;-)

It worked, thank you.

Here too. Thank you -McCoy- :-)

Only need to solve this bookmarks toolbar problem and URLbar problem. Solved it after they built this in some weeks ago, with settings to -false-. https://media.askvg.com/articles/imag.../Restore_Old_Classic_Addressbar_Https_Www_Prefix_URLs_Mozilla_Firefox.png

Problem is there again after 76.01 update, but settings are still -false-. Very strange.
