bookmarks disappeared
After restarting my computer, I got a new FF web page and ALL my bookmarks as well as history have been deleted.
How do I get them ALL back?
I have tried every solution on the Mozilla Help section - I cant do a Restore I have a very old version of backups - 2016
The online help system is going around and around in circles not giving any solutions. 4 hours of trying to sort this out is ridculous.
I really do not want to have to move to Chrome, I far prefer Mozilla, but I can not afford to loose more time sorting this problem out. If not resolved here, I will reluctantly have to restart all my bookmarks in Chrome.
I need all my bookmarks - some are work related.
Please Help

Is this what you did?
Open the Bookmarks Manager; Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the toolbar, and select Bookmarks. Hot key is <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> B.
Once the window is open, at the top of the page, press the button labeled Import and Backup. Select Import Bookmarks From HTML.

"right-click: Properties -> Previous Versions"
Rt click where?
As there are no more responses to my question, I take it that there is no solution.
Next question, How do I prevent this from happening again (other than daily backups)?

You need to right-click places.sqlite in Windows Explorer.
You can check in Windows Explorer if there is a previous version of the places.sqlite file available or files in the bookmarkbackups folder.
You either need an older copy of places.sqlite or a backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.
Alternatively you can look at this utility to browse System Restore points.

Hi, I am back again.
Sure as squirrels eat nuts, FF did an automatic update and all my bookmarks disappeared again.
I have periodically been saving my bookmarks in html - see screenshot I can open this and see all the bookmarks are there.
When I import the most recent saved bookmarks, but nothing is being imported. I select the file, click Open - see screenshot Get blank screen and nothing is imported back to FF - see screenshot.
Am I doing something wrong?
2. Why is FF doing an automatic update when I have elected to be notified when an update is required?

Hi Fred,
I did what you posted above.
I eventually found (duplicates) of my bookmarks in a different location to usual. But the tool bar pages have to be done manually.
Many thanks
Glad to help. Safe Surfing.
