Restarting firefox won't bring back the last visited pages but previous pages (usually from 2 or 3 steps backward).

In other words, it opens all the tabs but a few of them are not open to the last previous state (not the last page visited). Firefox seems to forget the last visited pages or doesn't properly make the database update (history) only on a few tabs.

Yes, I do have "when firefox starts... show the last...." option selected. I use a Windows 10 Prof x64 with v47.0.1 portable firefox browser (portable apps version).

Thank you all for your attention, Costi

You may have corrupt sessionstore file(s). Delete all sessionstore* files and the sessionstore-backups folder.

Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Locate the above file. Then rename or delete it. Restart Firefox.

Hi Fred,

Thank you for your support. It works like charm. Anyway, I thought that deleting sessionstore* files/folders will loose all my tabs/history and before doing that action, I bookmarked all my tabs :).

Thank you once again, Costi

Glad to help. Safe Surfing.

The session files store the pages of the last session in case Firefox closes not normally. Or if you want to restore that session.

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

Hi Fred, I only use ESET AV v8. From time to time (once a month but with no direct influence on FF) I clean my OS with CCleaner portable. I wish to update to FF portable v48 but since no no-signed extensions are allowed (Coolpreviews is a sine qua non extension for me), I'm forced to stay the v47. I repeated the above procedure but this time after two FF restarts, it continues to "forget" the last visited pages! Do you have any more ideas?

Thanks, Costi

Do you mean that the History Manager is not recording properly?

You may be in Private Browsing mode, or told Firefox not to remember.

Type about:preferences#privacy<enter> in the address bar.

The button next to History, select Use Custom Settings.

Turn off Always use private browsing mode Turn on Remember my browsing and download history At the bottom of the page, turn on Clear History When Firefox Closes. At the far right, press the Settings button. Turn on ONLY Cache and Form And Search History leaving the others off.

Places Maintenance {web link} Allows to run Maintenance tasks on the database that drives Places, the bookmarks and history module behind Firefox.

Open the Add-ons Manager. Locate the add-on and press the Options button. Then follow the directions.
