I have tried all of the fixes I can find on these help pages but every time I set my startup page to Google advanced search, it is overruled and the one-line Firefox search page is there.

Are you starting Firefox using a shortcut? Open its properties and make sure it only has (path)Firefox with nothing after Firefox.

What comes up instead?

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

Thanks Fred. Answering your question -- there is a Firefox sheet that always replaces it. It is a largely blank sheet with a search box in the middle. I don't [knowingly] have any of that protection software. B
