I have a Mac 10.6.8 and got an email stating I wouldn't be able to use firefox after Sept without updating. I also need to update the adobe flash, shockwave flash. How do I do this since my computer is so old it doesn't accept the new updates. Do I need to get a new computer though this one seems to be working ok. Please make any solution simple as I'm 75 and not very computer savvy. Cheers!

Hello RubyI, firefox 48 release (the current you have) will be the last Firefox version to receive new feature or security updates, from version 49 (release September 2016), Firefox is no longer supported on OS X systems below 10.9.

You will be able to use the current firefox (48) but because it is no longer supported you will not receive security updates.

see the next article and i suggest the Option 2: Download Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR) - until January 2017 : Firefox support has ended for Mac OS X 10.6, 10.7 and 10.8

Now please see AliceWyman's reply/solution chosen, to help you to change, easily, the current release(48) with the Extended Support Release (ESR) version 45.

to be honest, i think a lot of times the events run very fast, i don't like it either....

Cheers :-):-)

ESR channel builds generally get eight updates as 45.8.0 esr will be out when Firefox 53.0 is released. The 45.8.0 esr will then be the last unless Mozilla extends support to help Mac OSX 10.6, 10.7, 10.8 users for a while longer.
