How come at hotels I have to start with IE because Firefox does not allow for the initial log in screen?

I am at the point now that when I first log on at hotels I don't even attempt to start with Firefox. I don't know what to call the initial log on required by the hotel where you agree to their terms and enter the password given at the front desk but that's where Firefox fails. Even if you don't need a password and you just enter your room number and agree to terms. Once that's done, you're dumped off at the hotel's web site. At this point I close IE and open Firefox and get to work.

I stay at many different hotels not just one company. Every once in awhile it does work but rarely. What gives? Kind regards, Faithful user.
