Options is set to Desktop (the file goes to the folder and NOT the desktop proper as it once did until a few days ago). It does not send an icon to the desktop, but solely into the desktop folder/ It used to send it to the desktop and the Desktop folder. Any ideas?

Hi bob312.

What file do you mean? When it's being downloaded?

What are please your download settings in Firefox options and in which location the file actually appeared?

Whew - I thought I was clear. 1. Open Firefox 2. Go to Tools - Options: set Desktop as download location, "Always ask..." selected 3. Menu - Options -Applications - u torrent set to "Always ask". 4. Go to a u torrent website and select a file for downloading 5. File downloads into desktop folder, but the file icon DOES NOT appear on the desktop as it used to do last week 6. I can manually copy file to the desktop proper

If you set "Always ask..." option (step 2. above), Firefox will ask you where to download the file each time you click and download any, so the "Save file to" folder specified is irrelevant.

Where is the desktop folder (step 5.) located? If it the proper Desktop folder and the file is just not visible on you Desktop, the problem is in your operating system not refreshing the list of files there, not in Firefox.

The desktop folder is in the File Manager. I do believe you are correct in that my problem is in my OS. Thank you
